Temple Visit: Wat Sothorn, Chachoengsao, Thailand

According to legend, the famous Buddha image of Wat Sothorn was discovered in the river beside the present location of Wat Sothorn in Chachoengsao. Legend records villagers seeing the almost 2 metres high Buddha image emerging from the river surface and were astonished by this miraculous occurence. They then quickly build up a temple beside the river for this Buddha image to reside in, which is the present location of Wat Sothorn.

The Thais believe that this Buddha image grants them their wishes and is a very crowded temple daily, with people travelling from all across Thailand and other parts of the world to come pay their respects to this sacred Buddha image in Chachoengsao.

It is a common worship item to worship 100 hard boiled eggs, but we went for 108!

In the main shrine, we see the almost 2 metre tall Buddha image which according to legend was emerged from the river just beside the temple. It looks new because they have re-painted it over the years.

Archan Nick meditating in front of the holy Buddha image and receiving positive energy from the place. We also managed to collect some holy water from the temple and bring back to add to Archan Nick's holy water that he uses to do blessing for devotees.
